Everyone always asks us "How did you get that large boulder up in the ceiling?"

The house was completely dilapidated, with holes in the roof and vines growing through the walls.  It did, however, have good "bones", and really nice hidden treasures like crystal doorknobs that needed to be stripped of paint, heart pine floors that needed refinishing, and a beautiful fireplace that needed to be cleaned off.
We completely gutted it, interior and exterior, changed the floor plan somewhat, vaulted the ceiling, and added a loft. We added unique custom features like a cedar ceiling and accents, and placed a large boulder in the ceiling across a steel beam. The landscape does not have plants yet because it was not the right time of year to plant.

 

There is a distinct balance between the construction of dwellings and the land they sit upon. Southern Branches always starts any project with that idea in mind. Through these experiences and observations, and our own resources such as heavy machinery and dumptrucks, we have developed a system of designing and building things that are very unique, energy efficient, and affordable.
